Review: LeBrew Color Meter

Introducing the LeBrew Coffee Color Meter. I reviewed the new LeBrew coffee color meter and cannot wait to share my experience. Disclosure: I spoke with them after shooting these videos, and they said I can keep the device.

🎥 In this first video, I introduce the review and make my appropriate disclaimers. But the thing I am most excited about is hinted at in this video.

📦 Next up is a quick unboxing – everything you can expect to find in the box that comes and how the machine seems when you first pick it up and turn it on!

👷🏻‍♂️ The third and fourth videos will focus on how to work with it, starting with whole bean measurements and moving to the ground.

🔬 Finally,, I'll show you how the data compares to a color meter that I've relied on for years.

Double Roasting

One of the challenges I’ve faced as a coffee roaster is having an excess of light-roast coffee that doesn’t always suit the preferences of my community, where dark roasts are favored. This led me to experiment with double roasting, turning light-roast coffee into approachable dark roasts. Surprisingly, in blind tastings, I found that double-roasted coffee can hold its own—and sometimes even outperform—single-roast dark coffee. By repurposing surplus light roasts, I’ve uncovered new possibilities in roasting and flavor development. Curious about how you can apply this technique? Read on for my process and results.
